Young artists from the 1st Congressional District were honored May 8 during a ceremony recognizing winners of the "Kaha Ki'i" Congressional Art Competition Awards.
The ceremony took place at Honolulu Hale Courtyard, where works by 119 students from 14 schools and one taught by private tutor were displayed.

Talioaga's work also won "Best in Show" honors, and Talioaga will go on to represent Hawaii at the National Arts Reception in Washington, D.C., in July, where "Lili's Recycled Portrait" will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, along with works by students nationwide.
The competition was launched in 1982 to recognize the creative spirit of American high school students. The competition is open to Hawaii high school students in grades 9 through 12 in the 1st Congressional District.
