David Myron Lorch, 74, of Kalopa, Hawaii, a former bandmaster of Hamakua County and Hawaii County bands, and band director at Kamehameha and St. Joseph schools and Honokaa and Waiakea high schools, died at home. He also was Hawaii County's Department of Parks & Recreation supervisor in the South Kohala district and founding president of the Hamakua Music Festival. He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. He is survived by wife Sharon; son Kim; daughters Robin Racoma, Wendy Turk and Kerry Lorch; stepson Buddy Jah; stepdaughter Ami Jah; brother Glenn; sister Marcia Meyer; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday at Dodo Mortuary. Call after 10:30 a.m. Aloha attire.
