Robyn Mae Nakaji: Autopsy results show she died from trauma to the head

The victim, Robyn Mae Nakaji, 46, was discovered by farmers Friday morning along a dirt road leading to a farm at 91-2161 Old Fort Weaver Road. Police identified Nakaji yesterday and said before her body was found, she had last been seen about noon the day before along Kapahulu Avenue.

"Nakaji was last seen last Thursday, April 22, in the area of Taco Bell in Kapahulu," said homicide Lt. David Kamai. "We're asking the public's assistance. ... Anyone who may have seen her in the area walking ... please call CrimeStoppers."

Nakaji died from trauma to the head, according to autopsy results.

Kamai said the body had been left along the road wrapped in a blanket, tarp and comforter. Farmers at first thought it was rubbish left by someone.

It was not until farmers prepared to burn the bundle that someone discovered the victim's feet and realized there was a body inside. Police said Nakaji was found dressed in the same clothes she had been seen wearing the day before, blue jeans and a white top.

Kamai said Nakaji was married, had two children and lived in the Kapahulu area. Nakaji had no criminal convictions, according to state records, and police said for now they only have one witness who saw her walking.

"We're asking for any further witnesses that can help us," said Kamai. "Other witnesses that may have seen her jump in a car, we don't know. We'd like to find that out."

Detectives may be reached by calling the Criminal Investigation Division at 529-3115. Anonymous calls may also be made to CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or by dialing *CRIME on a cellular phone.
