Grants available for
coral reef conservation

A total of $3 million in conservation grants is available to farmers and ranchers upstream from or adjacent to coral reefs for projects that support conservation and enhancement of natural resources, fish and wildlife.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation are accepting pre-proposals through tomorrow.

The agencies seek innovative fish, wildlife and coral reef ecosystem projects that integrate conservation practices in ongoing agriculture, ranching and forestry operations.

Projects may enhance or protect habitat of threatened or endangered species, improve water quality, and unite conservation and agricultural interests.

Interested applicants should visit www.nfwf.org/programs/nrcsnacd.htm or call 541-2600.
