The Salvation Army takes its pre-owned apparel to the catwalk during the 17th annual Celebrity Fashion Show and Boutique at the Sheraton Waikiki on May 8.
Designs of seasons past will have new life as a roster of local celebs demonstrate how a little personal style can go a long way in freshening a wardrobe. It might leave you examining each piece in your closet twice before you pass it on.
Among those walking the runway will be TV personalities Pamela Young, Jill Kuramoto, Mahealani Richardson, Paula Akana and Kathy Muneno, of KITV; Jodi Leong, of KHNL; and Louise Kim McCoy and Liz Chun, of KGMB. Other celebs include Honolulu first lady Ramona Harris, Joyce Fasi and Mrs. Hawaii 2003 Cheryl Morales.
Guests will also have the opportunity to pull together their own outfits in the Sheraton's lobby area, where a Salvation Army boutique will be set up with thrift fashions, including designer labels, at bargain prices.
The boutique will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. The luncheon and fashion show will start at 11:30 a.m., and the boutique will reopen after the show, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $45 per person, $20 of which is tax-deductible. For reservations, call Natalie at 440-1859.
In addition to clothing, the show will also feature shoes, jewelry and accessories.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Salvation Army's charitable programs to help men, women and children.
