MVT’s Tribute to
Dave Donnelly
Shot glasses and squirt guns were popular party favors as Manoa Valley Theatre honored the late Dave Donnelly with its spring fund-raiser, "Party for Dave at the Copa," in the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom on Saturday. The squirt guns were put to use after dinner, and attorney Jeff Portnoy and MVT Producing Director Dwight T. Martin were two of the most active gunmen.
SILENT SHOPPING: Sandy Portnoy, left, her husband, Jeff, Kathe James and Vanita Rae Smith looked for bargains at the silent auction. Jeff Portnoy's one complaint was that bidding was more aggressive than it was back when "there were only 100 of us coming."

REMEMBERING 'THE MOOSE': "Uncle Tom" Moffatt, left, and show emcee Don Robbs recalled when Donnelly was a K-POI "Poi Boy" known as "The Moose."

|
JIMMY'S SPOOF: Honolulu City Council Chairman Donovan Dela Cruz, left, talked with Jimmy Borges after Borges entertained the crowd with a song gently spoofing Donnelly's well-known foibles. Artie Wilson and KITV President and General Manager Mike Rosenberg also came out to support MVT.

AND THE PARTY CONTINUED!: Sherry Chock Wong, left, was the belle of the ball in a stunning cheongsam-style blue velvet gown accented with a gold sequin dragon. Joining her en route to the dance floor were Marzia Angellelle, Kristen and Mike Chan, and Jacci Russ.

Karen Tiller and Joey Caldarone stepped outside to enjoy champagne and flambéed bananas at the dessert tables. Most of the corporate sponsors bought conventional tables of 10, but Caldarone invited 40 of his closest friends and associates to join him at two specially appointed tables of 20.
