Don Ho will be honored
at Hawaii Theatre April 25
A well-deserved tribute to Don Ho, with an impressive lineup of guest performers, will be held Sunday, April 25, at Hawaii Theatre, 6 p.m. The show's theme is "I'll Remember You." Entertainers include Don's daughter, Hoku, and Nina Kealiiwahamana, Sam Kapu, Marlene Sai, Boyce Rodrigues, Gary Aiko and others. The all-star band will be made up of former Aliis Benny Chong and Rudy Aquino, and Nathan Aweau, Buddy Fo, Ed Maligmat and Dennis Graue. The show is produced by Randie and Jamie Fong. It is bound to be a special night. Tickets are $30 and $65. Don joins Harry Soria in the Hawaiian 105 KINE radio studio tomorrow for a live broadcast to talk about his career. 'American Idol' voting was right on target
IDOL CHATTER: The "American Idol" voting was right on target this week with the weakest singers in the bottom three and Hawaii's voters coming on strong to carry Jasmine Trias, the 17-year-old Maryknoll senior, into next week's competition. So much for judge Simon Cowell and his complaints about her being too young to compete at such a level. Guest judge Quentin Tarantino, of film fame, was a super addition to this week's program. Hawaiian music legends Genoa Keawe and the late Irmgard Farden Aluli, along with Na Leo, will be profiled on "Emme's Island Moments" Thursday, 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., on KHON and repeated April 25, 4 to 5 p.m. Mihana Aluli Souza will talk about her mom.
