Seasiders split doubleheader with Silverswords

Brigham Young-Hawaii pitcher Lisa Hansen shut out Chaminade 1-0 in a nonconference softball game yesterday, but the Silverswords avenged the loss later in the day for a 4-2 win.

The Seasiders scored the only run of the first game in the sixth inning when Shea Seever doubled to score Chynna Wilcox from second base.

Donnell Wittekind took the loss for the Silverswords despite allowing just three hits.

Chaminade had no problem pushing runs across the plate in the second game, scoring twice in the second inning and twice more in the third. BYUH pitcher Brook Hilton took the brunt of the damage for the Seasiders while Loihi McKeague made it stand up with six innings of six-hit ball.

Rainbow Wahine earn first win in a month

Hawaii senior Reneta Camargo beat Lynn Quintoriano 6-0, 6-1 to lead the Rainbow Wahine to a 6-1 tennis win over Azusa Pacific yesterday at Central Oahu Regional Park.

It was Hawaii's first win in more than a month and the final home match for the Wahine. Each of Hawaii's singles players swept their matches except Paige Minor, who was losing 7-5 before retiring.

Hawaii (8-11) will finish its season on the road with three matches in California.

Warriors fall at home: Jarrod Diepraam beat Gordon Hong 7-5, 6-3 and Dalibor Ptak defeated Sam Fletcher 6-3, 6-4, but their Hawaii teammates couldn't capitalize in a 5-2 loss to Azusa Pacific yesterday.

Derrick Lajola and Byron Weinberg took their opponents to three sets before losing to the undefeated NAIA power that beat Hawaii 6-1 in March.

The Warriors (8-13) finish their home schedule against island rival Hawaii Pacific on Friday.
