7 from BYUH named Academic All-American

Seven Brigham Young-Hawaii water polo players were named Academic All-Americans by the Collegiate Water Polo Association.

Cody Weidauer and Vlada Stankovic earned "Outstanding Level" honors, while Steven Pace, Vanja Kalabic, Peter Caley and James Jacobson were awarded "Superior Level" distinction. Mike Rieben was named to the "Excellent Level" team.

UH hosts Sunset Series meet Saturday

The Hawaii track and field team hosts its first Sunset Series meet Saturday at Cooke Field.

All ages and abilities are welcome. Registration begins at 3 p.m., with events to follow.

The meet is a tuneup for the Rainbow Wahine's upcoming mainland road trip: the Azusa Pacific Heptathlon Invitational (April 15-16), Pomona-Pitzer Invitational (April 16), Mt. San Antonio College Relays (April 16-18), Long Beach State Invitational (April 17), Drake Relays (April 22-24), UC San Diego Triton Invitational (April 23-24) and Stanford Distance Invitational (April 30).

Barry to enter Hall of Fame

Bob Barry, who coached boys teams at Mid-Pacific, Saint Louis and Iolani for many years, will be inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in June at the national convention in Las Vegas.

He guided Iolani to five Hawaii High School Athletic Assocation state championships. Barry's 24-year record at Iolani was 328-116-46.
