First-time UH donors
will get gifts matched

The McInerny Foundation is renewing its program to match donations to the University of Hawaii Foundation by first-time alumni donors, the UH Foundation announced.

The McInerny Foundation will donate $50,000 to match gifts of up to $100 from alumni who are donating to the UH Foundation for the first time.

The program is part of an effort to encourage increased giving to UH.

Over the past four years, since the first McInerny Match was launched, more than 7,500 first-time alumni donors have had their contributions matched.

More than $245,000 has been raised among first-time alumni donors whose gifts were eligible to be matched, the UH Foundation said.

The McInerny Foundation has added $140,000 in matching funds for a total of $385,000 raised.

Alumni participation is at an all-time high with a 12 percent participation rate for the UH system and 15 percent for UH-Manoa.

The UH Foundation is promoting the McInerny Match through direct-mail and calling campaigns.
