Events celebrate Aiea church's first Easter
Christ's Church at Aiea will celebrate its first Easter with a communitywide event at 4 p.m. Good Friday, and distribute a free ton of rice, according to the Rev. Owen Tanoue.
The church founders "dreamed of forming a church that would touch the people of their community and improve their quality of life," he said. Formally opened in January, the church is part of the Evangelical Free Church of America. It is located at the HMC Karaoke facility at 98-121 Lipoa Place.
This Friday's event is free to all and will feature a bouncer for the children, an Easter egg hunt and a variety of games and crafts, followed by a dinner, special music and outdoor service. Clothing, household items and a ton, literally, of 20-pound bags of rice will be distributed freely to area seniors, families and singles who attend.
