Gentry donates $21K to nonprofit

Gentry Homes Ltd. has donated $21,400 to support the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center, which assists potential first-time home buyers.

The center offers homebuyer education, financial literacy training, one-on-one counseling and referrals to professional services.

Gentry joins local residential developers Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaii, Schuler Homes and Haseko Hawaii in supporting the work of the fledgling nonprofit.

Missouri Memorial picks HulaRez

The USS Missouri Memorial Association has streamlined its reservation process using online software created by Kauai-based HulaRez Inc.

A new Internet portal allows travel agents to input reservations directly into the attraction's network. "This allows us to bypass several previously necessary, time consuming steps," said Valerie King, vice president of Honolulu tour consolidator GAC Tours.

The next step planned by the USS Missouri Memorial Association is to make it possible for individual visitors to make real-time online reservations using the software. Customers can book tours at ussmissouri.org now, but because those bookings are not instantly fed into the association's reservation network, there is the possibility requested spots will already have been filled.
