New date for blink-182

BAD NEWS for Hawaii fans of blink-182 -- the band's scheduled performances next month on Oahu and Maui have been postponed.

Turns out drummer Travis Barker broke his right foot last Friday after reportedly falling off a bus in Australia. He tried to press on, reversing the set-up of his drum kit for that night's performance, but the cast doctors put on his leg made it too hard to play.

Barker, along with bandmates Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge, have since returned to the United States, where they will lay low until April 22 when the group kicks off its North American tour with two concerts in Mexico.

"It was just a freak accident," the drummer said in a statement. "But it'll heal and we'll be back."

According to a spokesperson for Goldenvoice, the Honolulu concert has been rescheduled for Oct. 1, so don't rip up those tickets just yet ...

ISLAND MUSIC fans of all ages will be out in force Saturday night, with the third annual "KINE Great Hawaiian Luau" taking place at the Blaisdell Arena and Island 98.5's "Bomb Bucha" concert blowing up at the Waikiki Shell.

Keali'i Reichel, the Makaha Sons, Na Leo, Na Palapalai, 'Ike Pono, Anelaikalani and Brickwood Galuteria with Imai and Friends are all scheduled to perform at the luau, which will also feature the comedy of Mel Cabang and Frank DeLima. Tickets are $45 for dinner and the show, $15 if you want to sit upstairs at the Blaisdell and not eat the food.

Over at the Shell, a dozen local bands will take part in "Bomb Bucha," including Natural Vibrations, Three Plus, the Opihi Pickers, Baba B and the Pipeline Band. National dancehall reggae artist Mr. Vegas will also be on hand. Tickets start at $15 for this one, and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets ...

AND ON Monday night, head down to Venus Nightclub and help raise some money for 26-year-old club kid Nicki Kotani.

The McKinley High School and University of Hawaii at Manoa graduate was diagnosed with cancer in January after a routine doctor's visit. She finished her second chemotherapy session earlier this week.

Kotani's boss at Tanaka of Tokyo, Richard Wong, is organizing the fund-raiser, which starts at 7 p.m. and will feature music by Ten Feet, John Feary and Epic Session.

After the live entertainment, DJs Mixmaster B, K-Smooth, Goodvybe, G-Man, Free, Sonik, Dawn, Stealth and Technique will keep the music going in two rooms until 4 a.m. Call Wong at 292-5302 for more info or to make a donation ...
