‘Copacabana’
Opens At MVT
GREAT JOB, ELITEI: John Rampage, left, and Athena Espania celebrated with Elitei Tatafu Jr. at the opening night party for Manoa Valley Theatre's "Copacabana" on Wednesday. Tatafu does an impressive job as the dynamic star of MVT's fluffy musical melodrama. Costume designer Espania's choice of "tropical attire" for Tatafu adds a comic punch to Act 2.

|
HERE'S TO MR. SILVER!: Scott Moura, front, was surrounded by ensemble members Harry G. Schneider IV, left, Gary Masuoka, Jared Lee Duldulao and Viet Vo. Moura gives a solid comic performance as Sam Silver, the blustering owner of the Copacabana nightclub. Duldulao is hilarious in a bit part as a obliviously awful singer auditioning for a part in a Broadway musical.

|
FOUR GREAT SHOWGIRLS: Suzanne Green, second from left, who plays ex-showgirl Gladys Murphy and does a powerhouse job singing and dancing in "Copa Girl," partied with Amanda Sinclair, left, Michelle Matias and Gay Myrell F. Arsenault. The four catch the eye as showgirls/dancers in several of the dance numbers. Copa dancers by night, Arsenault and Matias teach during the day.
