The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

ML Macadamia Orchards LP surged 25.1 percent to nearly a 14-year high this week in outpacing 10 other stocks in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index. The Big Island company, which posted a fourth-quarter gain of $406,000 after a year-earlier loss of $480,000, ended yesterday at $4.63. It was the highest close since it reached $4.75 on April 8, 1990. The company also raised its dividend 67 percent to 5 cents a share.
Barnwell Industries Inc. was the only other local stock to finish in the black as it rose 1.6 percent to end at an all-time high of $44.20, just more than two points below its all-time high of $46.25 reached two weeks ago.
