How wild are you?

art
Elisha Cuthbert in bad girl mode.

So are you a good girl or a bad girl? Choose one or both as M.A.C Cosmetics has come up with a lipstick and lip gloss inspired by the film "The Girl Next Door," in which Elisha Cuthbert plays a reformed porn star. Sounds dumb, we know, but love the colors.

The peachy lipstick with pearl shimmer ($14) is dubbed "Girl Next Door," and the hot pink gloss with a hint of glitter ($13.50) is named after the "Wild Girl." They're available at M.A.C stores and online at www.maccosmetics.com, coinciding with the film's release this month.

In the film, the seemingly innocent Danielle (Cuthbert) moves in next door to 18-year-old Matthew Kidman (Emile Hirsch), a straight-arrow overachiever whose sheltered existence then spins out of control.

Also, log onto www.thegirlnextdoormovie.com by tomorrow for a chance to win M.A.C "Girl Next Door" prizes.

Be good to your skin

In the first of many spring product launches to come, Sephora, at Ala Moana Center, will be welcoming Alison Raffaele, president and CEO of the Skin cosmetic line, into the store from noon to 4 p.m. tomorrow and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Raffaele was the head assistant to internationally celebrated makeup artist Bobbi Brown as the company's first National Makeup Artist and International Trainer from 1992 to 1995. In traveling and speaking to women around the world, Raffaele learned that women want high-performance, professional-quality products that are also easy to use.

Now on her own, Raffaele is known for her lightweight cosmetics and clean signature style that gives women a radiance that appears to come from within the skin.

Her Skin line includes a "Reality Base" oil-free foundation ($35) and SPF 15 "Lipskins" ($19.50) sheer lipsticks that glide on like gloss, with a silky texture that feels like a second skin. They impart subtle color for natural-looking perfection. The lipsticks are also full of skin-loving ingredients such as evening primrose oil, jojoba oil and apricot kernel oil, plus antioxidant vitamins A, C and E.

Call Sephora at 944-9797. And read more about Skin and spring colors in Sunday's Star-Bulletin.

Learning via puppetry

The students of Hakipu'u Learning Center will hold three public performances, using the traditional Hawaiian art form of hulaki'i or puppets, beginning March 16 around the island.

They will tell the story about Kamapua'a, Lonokaeho and Pele. The puppets are made from natural materials.

The presentations will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 16 at Kailua Library; at 6:45 p.m. March 24, at Waimanalo Library; and at 6:45 p.m. March 31 at Kaneohe Library.

Students will earn a public performance credit while helping to recruit new members to the middle school, a state Department of Education charter school on the Windward Community College campus.

For more information, contact the school at 235-9155.
