in inflated life rafts south of Lanai

HONOLULU -- Ten people were rescued from the waters off Lanai on Monday after their charter boat capsized, Coast Guard officials said.

The Maui-based Paragon I overturned about two miles south of Manele Bay and the passengers were picked up by the nearby boat, Kekai. No injuries were reported, Petty Officer Erica Ryan said.

The 47-foot double-hulled catamaran's distress beacon went off at 2:15 p.m. The vessel was located about two hours later.

The Coast Guard is investigating the incident.
