Benefit concert set

Olivia, Uprising Roots, Persuasion, I Ke Pono and halau Na Lei Na Ni O Waialua will lend their talents for a benefit concert for Waialua High School student Garret Foremsdorf, who has cancer.

The concert will take place noon to 5 p.m. tomorrow at Camp Erdman in Mokuleia. All proceeds will go toward defraying Foremsdorf's medical expenses.

Tickets are $10, available at Growing Keiki in Haleiwa and the Waialua Elementary School office. Tickets will also be available at the gate the day of the concert. For more information, call 637-0459.

TAU DANCE THEATRE
Peter Rockford Espiritu's Tau Dance Theatre returns March 19 and 20 with "Mareka Me Venuse."


Natalie Cole on Maui

Multiple Grammy winner Natalie Cole will perform at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The daughter of the legendary Nat "King" Cole, her string of hits include "This Will Be," "Inseparable" and "I've Got Love on My Mind," as well as the groundbreaking album "Unforgettable, With Love," a tribute to her father.

Mars and Venus unite

Peter Rockford Espiritu's Tau Dance Theatre returns to the stage March 19 and 20 with "Mareka Me Venuse (Mars & Venus)," combining its earlier gender tributes, "Men Dancing" and "Ladies Night Out."

"In 'Mareka Me Venuse,' Tau will delve into the duality of the sexes," said Espiritu, whose company has been praised by Dance magazine.

The dance performance will feature the men and women of Sonny Ching's Halau Na Mamo o Pu'uanahulu, Pililani Smith and Malamalama Hawaii, Sing Sing Bliss Chinese Dance Company, and Cocoa Chandelier and Andrea Torres from Maui's "Ualena."

Musical guests include Makana, Lopaka Kanaka'ole, Hala'i and the Pua Melia Trio.

Films sought for fest

Entries are being sought for the Honolulu "Rainbow" film festival, presented by the Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation and held in memory of Adam Baran.

Entries must be postmarked by March 26 and sent to Honolulu "Rainbow" Film Festival -- HGLCF, Attn: Programming Committee, 1877 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu, HI 96815.
