Hawaii's best high school basketball teams were at the state tournament last week, so it made the Star-Bulletin top 10 media poll voters' job a bit easier.

Head-to-head competition is a more efficient way of comparing teams from various islands than judging them on their scores and won-lost records.

The top five teams at the tournament -- state champion Iolani, Kalaheo, Punahou, Mililani and Kamehameha -- ended up as the top five teams in the poll.

The Warriors moved up to No. 5 all the way from No. 9 after defeating Kealakehe in overtime of the fifth-place game.

Baldwin, which beat McKinley in overtime for the consolation championship, moved up three spots to No. 7.

Maui, the Valley Isle champion which suffered losses to Punahou and Kamehameha in the tourney after going unbeaten in the regular season, tied McKinley at No. 8.

Kaimuki and Waiakea finished tied at No. 10.
