Doves were released on the grounds behind Honolulu Hale yesterday as the Nagasaki Peace Bell was rung 64 times, representing the 64 hydrogen bombs exploded in the Bikini atoll by the U.S. government from 1948 to 1958. Today marks the 50th anniversary of the detonation of the Bravo hydrogen bomb, which was 1,000 times stronger than the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.
