Hawaiian Airlines, which announced in January it would restart service to Sydney, Australia, for the first time in about 25 years, unveiled introductory air fares yesterday that start at $755 round trip.
The carrier, which will fly the route four times weekly on a 252-seat Boeing 767-300ER, will launch its inaugural flight May 18 from Sydney with the first return flight departing Honolulu on May 19.
Hawaiian, which already has received permission from the U.S. Department of Transportation and Australia to sell tickets, is still awaiting Australia's final government approval and issuance of an international airline license.
The introductory air fares, which don't include taxes, are $755 for travel from Honolulu on Monday and Wednesday and start at $825 for flights departing Honolulu on Thursday and Saturday. For flights originating from the neighbor islands, round-trip fares start at $855 on Monday and Wednesday and $925 for Thursday and Saturday.
Hawaiian also is offering Honolulu connections to Australia from the West Coast cities it serves: Seattle; Portland, Ore.; San Francisco; Sacramento, Calif.; Los Angeles and San Diego.
The introductory fares are valid for bookings made by March 31, as long as travel is completed by Dec. 31. Bookings can be made on HawaiianAir.com or by calling 838-1555 from Oahu or 1-800-882-8811 from the neighbor islands.
