>> A Verizon Hawaii story on Page C1 Thursday said the company was losing about 10,000 customers a month to wireless, calculating an annual loss approaching $5 million based on monthly telephone charges of $40 to $50. The annual loss estimate was correct, according to an informed source, but a filing with the Federal Communications Commission shows Verizon Hawaii lost service contracts for 11,579 lines in 2002, or a little more than 10,000 for the year. Figures for 2003 were not available.
