Exclusive club ‘Twilight’
returns to Waikiki hotel
JUDGING BY the incredulous, "what-do-you-mean-I-can't-get-in" looks of more than a few elite Honolulu clubgoers when told to wait in line at the debut of "Twilight," you can bet a crowd will form even earlier when the new monthly returns to the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel this weekend.
"Twilight"
Place: Hanohano Room, Sheraton Waikiki Hotel
Time: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. tomorrow

"It was just crazy ... out of control," said Pussycat Productions' Flash Hansen of the Jan. 18 kickoff party. By his estimate the crowd inside the Hanohano Room maxed out at approximately 300 people just after 10:30 p.m., effectively freezing an entrance line downstairs and forcing dozens of folks to endure a wait of an hour or more before getting anywhere close to the restaurant's access elevator.
"We can only put so many people in there, you know," Hansen explains unapologetically. The Hanohano Room "doesn't take long to fill up ... especially with four promoters" involved in getting the word out about the event.
Expect a line of patrons almost immediately after the Hanohano Room's elevator opens to the public at 9 p.m. tomorrow. DJs Drift, KSM, Rayne and Sub-Zero will man the turntables, and, like last month, both valet parking and pupus are free while they last.
"We're trying to create the atmosphere where ('Twilight') is a party that everyone wants to come to," Hansen said. "There were true VIPs that we couldn't let in (last month) because we were at capacity."
Just like a scene out of "Field of Dreams": If you build it, they will come.
