Railway Society gets $38,542

Pearlridge Center has donated $38,542 to the Hawaiian Railway Society.

The money will allow the society to purchase a backhoe, which will be used primarily to change railway ties on the track, cutting maintenance time by one third and reducing demands on volunteer labor. This is the third year Pearlridge has made large donation to the organization.

The Hawaiian Railway Society is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to saving, restoring and protecting Hawaii's railroading history. It maintains the only operating railroad museum in the state and the only historic railroad on Oahu.
