Castle takes Kaimuki’s
spot in pollStandings
Castle is the latest high school basketball team to break into the Star-Bulletin's Top 10.
The Knights went to overtime to defeat Oahu Interscholastic Association East contenders Kahuku and McKinley last week.
Kaimuki's presence in the top 10 was short-lived. After spending a week at No. 10, the Bulldogs were the only team to drop out.
Kamehameha made the biggest move, but it was downward from No. 4 to 7. The Warriors suffered three losses, including an upset by University last week. Voters kept them in the Top 10, mainly due to the fact that two of their five losses are to No. 1 Iolani and the other two are to No. 2 Punahou.
All other top-10 teams either took incremental moves -- Maui from sixth to fourth, Kealakehe from eighth to sixth, Kahuku from seventh to eighth -- or stayed put -- Kalaheo at No. 5 and Waimea at No. 9.
