We're in the midst of Girl Scout Cookie season as I write this, so, as "Cookie Diva" for the Girl Scout Council of Hawaii, weekends and free time are luxuries belonging only to the noncookie world out there. I even dream about cookies in my sleep and about making my target goals -- or better yet, exceeding them! Cookie sales end on Feb. 9, so I am feeling the pressure to make these last precious cookie-selling days really count!
Did you know that Girl Scout Cookies represent 10 percent of total cookie sales nationally, and we only sell cookies for 4 to 6 weeks out of the year? That means a lot of planning, coordinating and organizing. My typical work day is spent doing just that, which means tons of telephone calls and e-mails. I also try to meet as many of our girls and volunteers throughout the state to make a greater impact, foster communication and to convey my thanks.
My official title is vice president of sales and marketing. I received a bachelor of business administration in marketing degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. My first retail job was with Gucci, doing inventory while I was in college. I moved to San Francisco and got my first management position at the Limited Express stores, as one of the original opening team members. I moved back to Hawaii and worked at Liberty House as a buyer, and moved on to other positions over the years in the retail field.
