Gualdarama’s goal
gives Kamehameha
1-0 victory


David Gualdarama scored the lone goal yesterday as Kamehameha edged visiting Pac-Five 1-0 in an ILH boys soccer match.

The Warriors (7-1-2) broke a tie with the Wolfpack (6-2-2) for second place in the ILH with the win. The top two teams in the league receive berths to the state tournament.

Gualdarama scored in the first half after a teammate's pass to him was partially tipped by a Pac-Five player. Gualdarama managed to receive the pass on his left and scored.

Johnson leads University
to 53-41 win over Warriors


David Johnson led the University Junior 'Bows to a 53-41 upset of the No. 4 Kamehameha Warriors with nine of his game-high 22 points in the final quarter of an Interscholastic League of Honolulu game yesterday.

University trailed by four points in the first half before Johnson joined John Duro (11 points) and Lucion Holyfield (10 points) to hold Kamehameha to just 13 points in the second half.

Waika Spencer led the Warriors with 15 points but only got more than five points of help from one other player, Kawika Hepa with nine.

Derrick Low scored 28 points and the Raiders got off to a fast start to beat the Crusaders in a rematch of last year's state championship game.

Iolani outscored Saint Louis 22-14 in the first quarter to take an commanding early lead.

The Crusaders, who were led by Desmond Hanohano's 21 points, fell to 1-7, while the Raiders remained undefeated.

Ranson DeCosta scored 12 of his game-high 31 points in the third quarter as the Monarchs outscored the Owls 22-5 in the third quarter to turn a three-point halftime deficit into a 10-point win.

DeCosta hit five 3-pointers and helped improve Damien's record to 5-3, while the Owls dropped to 3-5.

Chris Perry led Mid-Pacific with 22 points.
