CONGRATULATIONS, HEINEKEN GUYS!: Stormy weather didn't spoil the free party at the Beach House Thursday night as Paradise Beverages and Heineken U.S.A. celebrated record-breaking sales of 1,185,000 cases of Heineken in Hawaii in 2003. Paradise reps Mark McGrath, left front, and Mark Sweet, left rear, joined Heineken execs (back row) Ken Kunze and Peter Dadzus and (front row) David Lokar, Robert Henley and Kevin Costas in the lounge while the party rocked on.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIT!: Mariko Lyons slipped behind the piano to congratulate Kit Samson as he celebrated his "plenty-ninth" birthday at the Mahina Lounge on Monday. Alfredo Romero, Bobby Roberts, Paul Conrad and Miles Jackson sat in with Samson during the evening and made it a great local-style party.

HJQ EXCELLENT AT THE ARTS: Big event of the weekend on the local jazz scene was the Honolulu Jazz Quartet's two-nighter at the ARTS at Marks Garage. HJQ members Dan Del Negro, left, Tim Tsukiyama, Adam Baron and John Kolivas relaxed Friday after a great opening-night performance that included most of the songs off their "Sounds of the City" album, well-crafted takes on several jazz standards and the debut of a newly written Kolivas tune, "The Keez Is in the Car."
