WAC hands out All-Academic honors

Hawaii had 12 of the 186 student-athletes earn all-academic honors yesterday from the Western Athletic Conference for the fall season.

Hawaii's representatives on the all-academic teams were Carolyn Berger and Shayne Enright from cross country; Keani Alapa, Joseph Blackburn III and David Gilmore from football; Krystalynn Ontai, Joelle Sugal, Jessica Uecker and Seline Williams from soccer; and Maja Gustin, Lily Kahumoku and Melissa Villaroman from volleyball.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.

Individual baseball tickets to go on sale

Individual tickets for Hawaii Rainbow baseball games go on sale Monday.

Prices for adults are $6 for the blue and orange sections, and $5 in the red section. Also available in the red section are senior citizen tickets for $4 and $3 tickets for UH students and students age 4-18.

During the First Hawaiian Title Rainbow Baseball Tournament, ticket prices increase by $1.

Tickets cane be purchased at the Les Murakami Stadium box office, the Stan Sheriff Center box office, at www.etickethawaii.com, over the telephone at 944-BOWS, the Aloha Stadium box office, the UH Campus Center, the Rainbowtique at Ward Centre and at the Windward Community College OCET office.

Wahine water polo team opens against alumnae

The Rainbow Wahine water polo team will play its alumnae tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

Hawaii was ranked eighth a year ago and returns 16 players from a team that finished 12-14 last season. Hawaii opens the regular season at Pacific on Feb. 5.

HSJGA accepting enrollments

2004 enrollment forms for the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association are now available. Forms may be obtained by calling the HSJGA office at 532-0559, or via internet at www.hsjga.org.

The first tournament will be the Junior World Hawaii Qualifier June 12 and 13, followed by the Callaway Hawaii State Junior championship. Two tournaments will also be played on Hawaii, Kauai, Maui, and Oahu throughout the rest of the year.
