Prom night redux

Missed your high school prom? Went with the wrong person? Here's your chance to right that years-old blunder and attend an old-fashioned prom with your current honey, or be daring and go stag!

The 3rd annual Second Chance Prom takes place 5 to 10:30 p.m. Feb. 14, at the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii Officer's Club.

The cost is $40 per person, $75 per couple, or $350 per table. Bust out your best semi-formal or aloha attire for a night to remember, with entertainment, a buffet dinner and 5 to 9 p.m. silent auction. Professional prom photographers will be there to capture your date for a fee, so practice those heads-together poses.

The event is a fund-raiser for Kailua High School's Project Graduation, a drug and alcohol-free party for graduating seniors on commencement night.

To reserve, call Dean at 263-3436 or Jill at 277-9354.

Chorus benefit set

The Honolulu Symphony Chorus will host its annual banquet and silent auction fund-raiser at the Pacific Club, beginning 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7.

It may be just the place to pick up a Valentine's Day gift, with auction items in all price ranges, including hotel packages at isle resorts, golf packages, artwork, restaurant gift certificates, jewelry, Honolulu Symphony tickets, and more.

Tickets are $55 and include dinner and a no-host bar. Send checks to the O'ahu Choral Society, 95-204 Hoahiahi Place, Mililani 96799, or call 626-4491. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Mascots hoop it up

It'll be fun, fun, fun during half time when the University of Hawaii men's basketball team takes on the University of Texas-El Paso tomorrow. Papa John's Hawaii is hosting a five-minute basketball exhibition game for corporate mascots.

Committed to slamming the ball around are: Chili's restaurant's Chili Pepper Man, the GEICO Gecko, Jamba Juice Banana and Strawberry, Kraft Foods' Kool-Aid Man, Moose McGillycuddy's Moose, Papa John's Mr. Slice, Salt Lake Self Storage's Mr. Safety, Security Alarm Shop's Vern the Hot Dog, and Star Markets' Imo Imo Little Star.

Stevo the Clown will referee.
