Last week we got to see Chinese films, now we'll be able to see Korean films. The Center for Korean Studies is hosting a weekly screening of Korean films throughout this spring. Admission is free. Above, "Wishing Stairs," one of the scheduled films, shows that maybe all wishes shouldn't come true.

Here is the schedule:

WEDNESDAY
>> "Tears": In the heart of Seoul, two boys end up at a juvenile detention center, while their girlfriends Sari and Ran end up as bar girls/prostitutes. Time passes, and one of the boys is released from the detention center to search for Sari, which leads to despair.

JANUARY 28
>> "My Teacher, Mr. Kim": Kim Boong-doo is a bad teacher who is given an ultimatum: Retire or accept a vacant teacher's role in the country. He is reluctant to leave Seoul but has no alternative but to take the job, but all he can think of is trying to get out.

FEBRUARY 4
>> "My Sassy Girl": In this romantic comedy, Gyeon-woo is a single Korean college student who meets a beautiful girl, who is also completely drunk. With no choice other than helping the girl, he decides to leave her in a motel. The next morning, he gets a call from the girl who wants to know everything that happened.

FEBRUARY 11
>> "A Good Lawyer's Wife": What is a wife to do when she finds out that her husband is having affairs? Tears and prayer won't change the reality. Why not play an active role and seduce other men for fun?

FEBRUARY 18
>> "Too Young to Die": A man and woman in their early 70s meet, fall in love and rediscover sex. They tease and learn from each other, argue over trivial matters, and make love ... just like a couple in their 20s. Based on a true story.

FEBRUARY 25
>> "Memento Mori": In this horror film, a teenage girl finds the diary of her schoolmates, leading to the discovery of a lesbian relationship and supernatural repercussions.

MARCH 3
>> "Green Fish": Bae Tae-Gon is a man who wants to rule the world with a sword. Mi-Ae is a woman who tries to fill the world with love. And Mak-Dong is a man who lives a life of despair.

When the latter two meet, Mi-Ae arranges a job for Mak-Dong through Bae Tae-Gon, her lover and boss of a violent organization. Soon after, Mak-Dong finds himself spiraling downward into a pit of self-destruction.

MARCH 10
>> "Road Movie": Dae-shik dreamed of scaling the Himalayas but lives on the streets. Il-joo lives on pills, alcohol and sex with strangers. Suk-won's life goes to ruin when his stocks hit rock bottom. The three meet and decide to go on a road trip together, learning more about themselves and their feelings for each other.

MARCH 17
>> "Wishing Stairs": Along a wooded path to the school dormitory is a stairway with 28 steps, referred to as the Wishing Stairs, because a fox's spirit in the stairs will grant wishes. If someone wishes with all of her heart as she climbs the stairs, a 29th stair will appear and a wish will be granted. However, those who climb the stairs are not aware that the wishes granted by the fox return as terrible curses.

MARCH 24
>> "My Wife Is a Gangster, Part II": Female gang boss Eun-jin lost her memory in a fight and, without knowing her name and identity, is cared for by Yoon Jae-chul and starts working in Jae-chul's Chinese restaurant.

But she is perplexed by her skill in using knives and scissors and her ability to stop a bank robber.

MARCH 31
>> "Tell Me Something": In the summer of 1999, black garbage bags filled with dismembered body parts (one part missing from each bag) showed up around Seoul. Detective Cho struggles to identify the victims and makes a startling discovery: All the victims are ex-lovers of a woman named Su-yeon, a curator at the National Museum.

APRIL 7
>> "Bungee Jumping of Their Own": Two college freshmen fall in love soon after sharing an umbrella in the rain, with a vow to never leave each other.

The girl, however, disappears without a word, and the boy, 17 years later, gets married and becomes a teacher.

One of his students reminds him of his unforgettable lost love, and a strange mystery starts to unravel.

APRIL 14
>> "Plastic Tree": An impotent barber lives with his girlfriend, but when an old acquaintance of his arrives to stay at their place, emotions gradually rage out of control.

APRIL 21

Tutoring is a tough job, especially since basket cases are more curious about what's underneath her skirt, and having been fired from her latest job, she meets her next challenge: the impossible, unconquerable and unreformable Ji-hoon, the eldest son of a wealthy man.

APRIL 28
>> "Take Care of My Cat": Jae-eun Jeong's coming-of-age tale follows five girlfriends in their early 20s who live in the dingy port town of Incheon.

A close-knit circle in high school, their paths begin to diverge in the adult world.

A lost cat enters their lives, passing from one owner to the next as circumstances pull lives and friends apart and others together.
