Pearl City beats Kapolei
Star-Bulletin staff
AJ Foltz scored nine of his 11 points in overtime and Michael Hardy's putback with 10 seconds left in the OT proved to be the game-winning shot as the Chargers handed the Hurricanes their first loss in Oahu Interscholastic Association play, 55-53.
Trailing 22-15 at halftime, the Chargers stepped up the defense in the second half, limiting Kapolei to five third-quarter points, and eventually built a 41-38 lead late in the fourth quarter. But a Kapolei 3-pointer with a few seconds remaining sent the game into overtime.
In overtime, with the score tied at 53 and less than 20 seconds left, the Chargers' Hardy drove to the basket, but missed a layup. However, he was able to grab his own rebound and put it back in to give Pearl City the two-point lead.
Hardy also came up big on the defensive end of the court as Kapolei missed a shot with the time winding down. Hardy grabbed the rebound and hurled the ball down court as time expired, sealing the Chargers' win.
Brad Padayao led the Hurricanes with 13 points. Warren Simanu added 11 points and E.J. Aton 10.
The win helped Pearl City move into a tie for third place with Kapolei in the OIA West.

Rain postpones games
Star-Bulletin staff
Three high school basketball games, all OIA soccer games and all but one softball game were postponed due to yesterday's rain and wind.
Road closures on the North Shore kept No. 8 Kahuku (3-0) at home. The Red Raiders were supposed to visit Moanalua (2-1) for an Oahu Interscholastic Association East basketball game. The varsity game will be played at Moanalua tonight instead, 15 minutes after the end of the 5 p.m. junior varsity game.
Another OIA East basketball game, McKinley at Kailua, was also postponed until tonight. The West game between Waialua and Waianae will be played Monday.
The site of one OIA West basketball game -- Nanakuli vs. Waipahu -- was moved from Waipahu to Nanakuli due to a leak in the roof at the Waipahu gym.
All OIA softball games, except Kalaheo vs. Kaiser at Koko Head District Park, were postponed until today, while all ILH games were postponed, with no make-up dates announced yet.
The OIA also postponed five boys and five girls soccer matches.
