Honolulu rates high in credit card use

Honolulu has earned the dubious honor of being named a top city for credit card expenditures, according to a survey by MapInfo Corp.

Honolulu tops the list of metros for the use of gasoline credit cards and residents have the fourth highest overall average monthly expenditures using credit cards. Stamford-Norwalk, Conn. residents had the highest average monthly expenditures.

Individuals in Jacksonville, N.C., and Anchorage, Alaska, also were top credit card spenders, according to the research group. Folks in Jacksonville like to impulse buy and Anchorage residents have a high propensity to use retail and gas credit cards, the survey said.

Data storage firm buys Kapolei site

Pro-File Record Systems, an information storage and retrieval service, has purchased warehouse property in Kapolei for its company headquarters.

The 36,000-square foot structure, which was purchased for an undisclosed amount, is in the Westpark Center. The center, an industrial condominium property in the James Campbell Industrial Park, is adjacent to the Kalaeloa Barbers Point Harbor. PM Realty Group represented Pro-File during the transaction.

Norwegian to hold fund-raiser

Norwegian Cruise Line will hold an overnight fund-raiser cruise on July 3 in Honolulu to benefit the Bishop Museum, Child and Family Service, the U.S.S. Missouri Memorial, Ready to Learn and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement.

The cruise is part of the inaugural festivities for NCL's new U.S.-flagged ship Pride of America, which starts interisland cruises on the Fourth of July. NCL will donate the ship and amenities for the sailing, and all ticket revenue from the cruise will benefit the groups, NCL said.

In 2001, NCL donated the Norwegian Star to four charities for a one-night, fund-raising cruise, raising more than $240,000.

Prices for the overnight cruise range $300 for an inside cabin to $1,500 for a deluxe penthouse suite.
