Jones, Moody fall short in Sydney
Hawaii surfers Daniel Jones and Sean Moody both lost in the quarterfinals of the Billabong World Junior Championships in Sydney yesterday.
Jones scored a 12.64 in his final four heat, but fell to Australia's Shaun Cansdell. Cansdell shredded the waves to a 16.83 score, the highest of the day. Moody only scored a 9.83 in the heat before, losing to eventual champion Adriano de Souza of Brazil. De Souza scored a 10.5 to beat Cansdell in the final 16.0-12.9.

Seasiders have no problem with Chapman
Jake Chrisman scored 27 points and pulled down seven rebounds to help the Brigham Young-Hawaii basketball team over Chapman at Laie last night.
Michael Stowell scored 12 point s for the Seasiders (9-2) while Landon Lewis and Zach Wheatley each scored 18 for Chaman (5-7).
Quarterback Club speakers announced
Baseball and softball will be the highlighted topics of the new year's first Honolulu Quarterback Club meeting as Wahine softball coach Bob Coolen, Warriors baseball coach Mike Trapasso and former professional baseball player Artie Wilson Sr. will speak at tomorrow's luncheon.
The program begins at noon at the Pagoda restaurant in Honolulu with lunch starting at 11:30 a.m.
UH finishes Rainbow Invitational
The University of Hawaii men's and women's swimming teams completed the Rainbow Invitational, a non-scored two-day series designed for training purposes, this morning at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex.
UH earned first-place finishes in 15 of the 22 events, with Jessica Affleck winning multiple races, including the 500 and 1000 Free.
