Foremost Dairies-Hawaii, one of the state's most well-known dairy companies, was sold yesterday but the new owners say there won't be any changes.
FH Acquisition LLC purchased the company from House Foods Hawaii Corp. for an undisclosed price. The sale is expected to close Jan. 30, the companies said.
"There are no changes in operations planned and the Kalihi headquarters of Foremost Dairies-Hawaii will be maintained," FH Acquisition Manager Bahman Sadeghi said.
FH Acquisition also will keep Foremost's 146 employees on Oahu and Maui.
Foremost President Takeshi Arao said House Foods Hawaii is divesting its dairy operations to refocus the operations on core businesses such as spices, curry and packaged products.
"We are confident in the ability of FH Acquisition LLC to continue the proud history of Foremost in the community," Arao said.
Foremost manufactures and distributes milk, yogurt, ice cream and other dairy products. The company was founded 51 years ago. It was purchased by House Foods Corp. in 1987 from Knudsen Co.
