Hawaii gets $1.7
million FEMA grant

Hawaii has been awarded $1.7 million in federal funds to improve emergency preparedness activities, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The funds come from the agency's Emergency Management Performance Grants program, which supports comprehensive emergency management at the state and local level.

Funds, announced earlier this month, are earmarked for programs and activities that improve the state's ability to prevent, prepare for and recover from natural and man-made disasters.
