HERE'S TO A HAPPY NEW YEAR
RONEN ZILBERMAN / RZILBERMAN@STARBULLETIN.COM
TEMARI Center for Asian & Pacific Arts presented the Kadomatsu and New Year Festival yesterday at Ward Warehouse. Above, Rochelle Li enjoyed making fish prints for good luck in the coming new year. Below, the Rev. Daiya Amano of the Izumo Taishakyo Mission performed a formal Shinto blessing. Other activities at the festival included mochi pounding, a taiko drum performance, Asian and Pacific folk dances, craft demonstrations and kadomatsu arranging. Kadomatsu, an arrangement of bamboo stock and leaves, is a Japanese New Year tradition, made to please the New Year's gods to bring longevity, prosperity and constancy.
