Blinkie Santa

The Friends of Honolulu City Lights have created a blinking Shaka Santa pin and T-shirt as another of its fund-raising efforts to keep the annual holiday celebration of lights going.

The Shaka Santa blinkie costs $5 for one, $8 for two and $10 for three.

The T-shirt, which bears the Shaka Santa design on the back and the Honolulu City Lights logo on the front, sells for $8 to $11 depending on size. Children and adults sizes available.

Both are being sold on the grounds of Honolulu Hale at night. The T-shirt is also available at the Honolulu City Store at Ala Moana Center.

Shop Hawaiian

If you haven't finished your Christmas shopping yet, there's time to stop at Hale Ku'ai, a native Hawaiian consumer cooperative offering products from native Hawaiian artists, craftsmen and food producers.

The temporary gift shop at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center features a wide range of handcrafted products, including apparel, home fashions and edibles. Products include noni herbal soap, koa paddles, Niihau shell leis, salt candles and traditional Hawaiian implements.

The co-op also offers daily cultural demonstrations, talks and an art gallery, teaching skills such as poi pounding and ti leaf-lei making.

Hale Ku'ai will be open noon to 10 p.m. daily through Dec. 31. Special parking rates apply when visiting the store, at $1 per hour up to five hours with validation.

Christians gather

Love Feast Productions will be hosting a semiformal New Year's party, "The Red Carpet Affair," to bring together young Christians of all denominations.

The event is being staged to unify the denominations with no agenda save socializing. That means a party, spared the preaching.

There will be live bands and food. Alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages will be available, at Bikini Cantina, Aloha Tower Marketplace, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Tickets are $8 pre-sale and $13 at the door. Tickets can be obtained by sending checks payable to New Hope Christian Fellowship, care of Love Feast Productions, P.O. Box 5373, Kaneohe 96744. For information, visit the Web site www.lovefeastproductions.com.

'World of Puppets'

Jim Gamble returns to Kennedy Theatre next month to present his "Wonderful World of Puppets."

He will perform at 7 p.m. Jan. 10, featuring some of his most beloved marionette characters.

Tickets are $10 general; $9 seniors, military and University of Hawaii faculty and staff; $7 for children and non-UH students; and $3 for UH students with spring '04 UH IDs. Call 956-7655.
