Anitra Bullock of Waimanalo, above, was baptized yesterday by Wayne Larua in a portable pool erected to baptize several people at the four-day Jehovah's Witnesses convention at the Hawaii Convention Center. About 12,000 people from around the world are expected to attend the event. Below, more people undergo the rites.

Gabrielle Brice and Claire Uson, both volunteers from Campbell High School, helped Serwina Walter select toiletries at the IHS Holiday Shop yesterday. IHS opened its shop doors to families in need for holiday "shopping" of donated goods. Walter and her husband were selecting gifts for her five children.
