More than 12,000 delegates from several countries are attending the international convention of Jehovah's Witnesses this weekend at the Hawai'i Convention Center.

The conference opened Thursday and will continue through tomorrow, with the theme "Give God Glory."

A second increment of the international conference will open Thursday at the Blaisdell Center, with a four-day program of Bible-based talks and shared personal experiences. Another 10,000 people are expected to attend.

All sessions are open to visitors.

Today

>> 11 a.m.: Reports about missionary work and church activities in Asia, Africa and the Pacific will begin the program.

>> 11:30 a.m.: An immersion baptism of several people will be held in the exhibition hall.

>> 3:40 p.m.: Reports on experiences from missionaries abroad will continue.

>> 4:10 p.m.: "A Precious Inheritance" will focus on teaching children in a family-oriented session.

Tomorrow

>> 11 a.m.: Reports about activities in Hawaii, the mainland, Britain and Tanzania will be presented.

>> 11:30 a.m.: A costumed play will dramatize "Boldly Witnessing Despite Opposition."

>> 2 p.m.: A discourse on "Who Are Giving God Glory Today?" will conclude the agenda.

The convention is hosted by the 99 Hawaii congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses, which have about 8,000 members in the islands. This is the first international convention to be held here in 25 years, according to spokesman Eric Anderson.
