The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian still soars
Hawaiian Holdings Inc., the parent of bankrupt Hawaiian Airlines, hit a 52-week closing high of $2.87 yesterday to lead the way in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. Hawaiian's stock has now risen 890 percent since reaching an intraday low of 29 cents on June 13.
Barnwell Industries Inc. posted the second-best performance with a 3.78 percent gain to $32.95. Earlier this week, the company named Diane G. Kranz, a senior partner at Kranz &Co. LLP in New York, to the board and promoted Mark A. Murashige to vice president and controller and Joseph R. Downs III to manager of information services.
