It looked like an upset was brewing when Waimea ran out to a 20-10 first-quarter lead, but Punahou tied it at the end of three quarters and the Buffanblu went on to pull away with a 60-48 win last night at the Iolani Classic.

Fairfax 61, St. John's 48: Two-time defending champion Fairfax remained unbeaten and in the running to hold on to its crown, thanks in part to 23 points and eight rebounds from Joshua Shipp. Jamal Clay added 12 points and five steals for the Lions. Jamal Boykin had nine points.
St. John's had Chris Wright and Dwayne Anderson scoring in double figures with 13 and 12 points respectively. Anderson had a rough evening, going 3-for-14 from the field, 1-for-9 on 3-point shots.
