Junior golfers selected for challenge
Stephanie Kono, Mari Chun, Kellen Watabu and Alan Baab complete the junior golfers field for the First Hawaiian Bank's Pro Junior Golf Challenge.
Kono and Watabu were both champions at the fifth annual Hawaii State Junior Golf Association's Tournament of Champions last weekend on Maui. Watabu, Baab, Chun and Kono were selected based on the state's overall competitive point rankings.
Punahou's Michelle Wie and University's Travis Toyama were invited earlier to compete in the tournament, which features a junior golfer paired with a professional in a six-hole contest. A computer will draw six two-player teams before the Jan. 13 event. Earlier this year, Toyama and his partner Tom Lehman won the competition. Pros Jeff Sluman and Jerry Kelly have already committed to the event.
