VIP party marks
4 years of Pipeline

HARD TO believe it's been this long, but Pipeline Cafe celebrates four years in business tonight with a special VIP party from 7 to 10 p.m.

This is one of those situations where you need to know someone-who-knows-someone-who-knows-someone in order to get in, but if you do, a free pupu buffet and $1 cocktails await. But don't think the party's over once 10 p.m. rolls around; drinks are just $2 for the rest of the night, with DJs Mixmaster B and Mikey D holding it down on the decks. Call 589-1999...

HERE'S AN idea if you can't score an invite to Pipeline's VIP shindig: Head over to the Beach House at Pier 7 near Aloha Tower Marketplace instead for all-you-can-eat sushi and all-you-can-drink sake from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The guys from Sushi Supreme will be serving things up, with live entertainment by Eric Ho.

Tickets are $15 at the door, but be sure to call 566-0644 first and see if any $10 pre-sale tickets are left ...

AND DON'T sleep on "Connect Four," tonight's weekly party at the Velvet Lounge (formerly Grumpy's). This is a great night to visit if you're into local hip-hop and want to witness some of the more talented individuals on the scene in action.

Featured DJs scheduled include Kavet the Catalyst, Mattratt, Oliver Twist, Packo, Risup, Jimmy Taco and Seeko, with MCs Kelvin Zero, Omega Cix, Staplemouth, Creed Chameleon, Jonah Thee Whale, Seph 1 and Hosana joining hosts Ion Mike and Sean D. on the mic.

Doors open at 10 p.m. for "Connect Four"; 18 and over are welcome ...

TOMORROW NIGHT, venture downtown to Soullenz Studio for "Soulstice Sounds" with San Francisco's Fantuzzi and local band Quadraphonix. DJ Taharba will also be there to spin during the evening. Cover is $10 for this one; doors open at 7 p.m.

Another good choice tomorrow might be Bedroq Bar and Grill, where Missing Dave is supposed to perform starting at 9 p.m. They normally play at the Wave Waikiki, but this is a rare opportunity to check them out somewhere else without having to pay a cover charge. Call 942-8822...

THIS SATURDAY marks the start of "Feng Shui" as a weekly event at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. The fun starts at 10 p.m. for the 21-and-over crowd, with entertainment both indoors and outside next to the hotel's poolside bar. Want more details? Surf to www.double-o-spot.com or call 957-0303...
