LaBoy cited by College Football News

Hawaii senior defensive end Travis LaBoy was named a third-team All-American by College Football News yesterday.

LaBoy led the Western Athletic Conference with 13 sacks among his 76 tackles. He also intercepted two passes and recovered two fumbles.

LaBoy was selected WAC Defensive Player of the Year by the league's coaches, and on Sunday night was named the Warriors' MVP for the 2003 season.

South Pacific drag championships up for grabs

Myles Togioka and Mike Bell will headline the South Pacific Championships of drag racing today and tomorrow at Hawaii Raceway Park.

The two days of racing will determine Hawaii's champion after a long season of racing down a quarter-mile strip. Today's races begin at 4 p.m. while tomorrow gates open at 10 a.m.

In addition to trying to win the points title, Togioaka and Bell will hold a demonstration of racing with A-Jet fuel, providing a display of light and speed stopped only by parachutes.

Free youth lacrosse clinics offered weekly

The Aloha Youth Lacrosse Association will conduct free clinics for boys and girls ages 7-15.

The clinics will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Jan. 4, Jan. 11, Jan. 18 and Jan. 25 at Kapiolani Park.

Players are to bring a mouth guard, shoes and water.
