The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian soars again
Hawaiian Holdings Inc., parent of bankrupt Hawaiian Airlines, hit a 52-week closing high of $2.76 yesterday to lead the way in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. Hawaiian's stock has now risen 852 percent since reaching an intraday low of 29 cents on June 13.
Alexander & Baldwin Inc. posted the second-best performance with a 9.6 percent gain to $33.99.
Maui Land & Pineapple Inc., which picked a new president for its pineapple unit, was next with a rise of 8.8 percent to an all-time high of $34.92.
Cyanotech Corp. was last with a decline of 4 percent to $1.20.
