A professional manicure offers a gift of stress relief and beauty.

N is for nail care

A professional manicure or pedicure might be the perfect holiday gift for someone in need of stress relief.

A pedicure -- good for men as well as women -- can include a tub of hydro-therapeutic jets that pamper tired tootsies while a massage chair unknots the rest of the body.

Manicures and pedicures can restore beauty and softness to skin often overlooked to the point of scaliness, not to mention those nubby nails.

Pedicures range from $23 to $70; manicures, from $12.99 to $60. Warm paraffin wraps -- wax brushed over hands or feet to restore moisture and soothe achy muscles and joints -- complete the package.

The paraffin service is available at Heaven on Earth for an additional $12 with any manicure or pedicure. Nail services at Heaven on Earth range from $25 to $60.

Paul Brown at Ward Centre offers a spa pedicure with a paraffin dip for $70 and a spa manicure with a dip for $55. Over at Marsha Nadalin Salon & Spa, Kahala Mall, a manicure and pedicure cost $75.

For more budget-conscious shoppers, combination manicure-pedicures are $32.99 at First Impression Nail Salon at Ward Warehouse or $35 at David Nail and Tan in Kapolei, Le's Nail Studio in Windward Mall and Professionail in Mililani Town Center. Or try True Nails in Waianae for $30 or Trina Beauty in Aiea Shopping Center for $32.

For those who prefer tending to these grooming details personally, an array of nail products are available. One-minute pedicure and manicure products can be purchased at oneminutemanicure.com, where nail products cost $1.50 to $35.

Longs Drug Stores carry any number of affordable stocking stuffers such as glitter nail polish, rhinestone appliqués and nail kits. Prices range from $2.99 for rhinestones and stickers to full airbrush nail kits for $5.99. Kids' nail kits are available for $4.79 and include glitter, decals and body tattoos.

Our Christmas countdown continues daily, a letter at a time.
