Punchbowl allows plants
at graves during holidays
Star-Bulletin staff
The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl, will allow potted plants and artificial flowers at grave sites during the holiday season, Dec. 20 through Jan. 2.
Christmas trees, permanent plantings, statues, vigil lights, glass objects of any kind and any type of commemorative items, including toys (such as pinwheels, balloons, wind chimes, stuffed toys or similar articles) are not permitted. Also, floral items and other types of decorations cannot be attached to markers or columbarium walls.
Glass containers for the plants are not allowed. Potted plants should be anchored to the ground next to grave sites, using chopsticks to hold the containers in place. Wire holders used to anchor the plants can, if hit by mowers, become projectiles capable of seriously injuring someone.
