At VP-4's southern detachment located at Kadena Air Base on Okinawa, the First Class Association sponsored their Thanksgiving Day meal at the enlisted barracks.

Two VP-4 sailors were among the 400 selected for the Seaman-to-Admiral 21 program. Aviation Warfare Specialists 2nd class Benjamin Harris and 2nd class X Salinas were selected for the fiscal year 2004 naval officer commissioning program. Harris hopes to attend Ohio State University, while Salinas is waiting for a slot at North Carolina State University.
