The city's Norfolk Island pine Christmas tree was topped yesterday during a ceremony at Honolulu Hale. Wayne Tello, in yellow shirt, with the Board of Water Supply, city Managing Director Ben Lee, center, and Alex Ching, right, with Parks & Recreation, placed the star on the tree.

HONORING THE LOST

A ceremony was held yesterday at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe to honor the 18 sailors and one civilian contractor who died Dec. 7, 1941, during the Japanese attack against what was then a naval air station. Lance Cpl. Byron Moody, left, and Lance Cpl. Paul Zamudio stood next to the monument.
